Whether you\u2019re a casual cyclist, a fan of family bike rides, or a cycling traveler, you can reach the trail in just a few minutes and set off to explore the exceptional landscapes of the Landes region. <\/p>\n<h2>What is La V\u00e9lodyss\u00e9e?<\/h2>\n<p>The V\u00e9lodyss\u00e9e is the French section of the <strong>EuroVelo 1<\/strong> route, which runs along the Atlantic coast from Brittany to the Basque Country. In France, it stretches over <strong>1<\/strong>, <strong>300 kilometers<\/strong>, from Roscoff to Hendaye. More than 80% of the route follows greenways or safe bike paths, offering a route accessible to families as well as more experienced cyclists.  <\/p>\n<h2>The V\u00e9lodyss\u00e9e in the Landes<\/h2>\n<p>The Landes region is one of the most beautiful stretches of La V\u00e9lodyss\u00e9e. Over nearly <strong>160 kilometers<\/strong>, the trail winds through vast pine forests, runs along the ocean dunes, connects the large lakes of the Landes, and passes through the department\u2019s main seaside resorts, from Biscarrosse to Tarnos. <\/p>\n<p>Thanks to a perfectly marked trail that is mostly free of car traffic, everyone can fully enjoy the scenery, beaches, and quaint villages that give the Landes coastline its charm.<\/p>\n<h2>Access the trail directly from the Village des Ch\u00eanes de L\u00e9on<\/h2>\n<p>From the <strong>Village des Ch\u00eanes in L\u00e9on<\/strong>, it\u2019s very easy to get to La V\u00e9lodyss\u00e9e. With just a few turns of the pedals, you\u2019ll reach this famous bike path and can choose which direction to go, depending on your preference. <\/p>\n<h3>Heading north: on to Contis and Mimizan<\/h3>\n<p>As you drive north, you&#8217;ll pass through the Landes Forest toward <strong>Saint-Julien-en-Born<\/strong> and <strong>Contis-Plage<\/strong> \u2014with its famous black-and-white lighthouse\u2014before continuing on to <strong>Mimizan<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Throughout the route, you\u2019ll enjoy a shaded trail, the tranquility of the forest, and numerous access points to the ocean\u2019s secluded beaches. This leg of the journey between L\u00e9on and Contis is particularly popular for its natural setting. <\/p>\n<h3>To the south: Moliets, Vieux-Boucau, Capbreton, and Hendaye<\/h3>\n<p>Heading south, the V\u00e9lodyss\u00e9e takes you to <strong>Moliets-et-Maa<\/strong>, <strong>Messanges<\/strong>, <strong>Vieux-Boucau-les-Bains<\/strong>, <strong>Soustons<\/strong>, then <strong>Capbreton<\/strong> and <strong>Hossegor<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>This section alternates between forests, dunes, and seaside resorts. You can easily take a break on the beaches, explore the local markets, or have lunch overlooking the ocean before continuing on your way. The L\u00e9on\u2013Capbreton leg is almost entirely on bike paths, ensuring a comfortable and safe ride.  <\/p>\n<h2>An ideal activity for your vacation<\/h2>\n<p>Whether you want to ride a few kilometers or set out for a full day, La V\u00e9lodyss\u00e9e has something for everyone.
